FRAUD!! City of Bridgetown Cooperative Credit Union

BARBADOS (Naked Departure) —  Naked, I have a mortgage at the City of Bridgetown Cooperative Credit Union.  They have added an extra three hundred thousand dollars to my mortgage.  It is a deliberate attempt to get money from people that someone in there is taking home.  They also added an extra five years as well.

I am not the only person experiencing this, another single parent had fifty thousand dollars added to her loan.  Please help me to help other Barbadians to check their legal documents.

My document was changed after I signed it.  COB does not give most single females a copy of their loan bond.  A lady bought a vehicle through COB last week she did not get a copy of her loan bond.  There are other agencies involved in this scam.  Anonymous

P.S.   Yes, please provide those redacted documents via nakeddeparture@gmail.com

  1. I have recently found that when a lady had finished her mortgage at COB documents were produced showing that she owed another sixty thousand dollars. They came to take away her home. The stress was too much for her nerves. A family member won some money and gave her the money to pay COB. They need to be exposed for everyone to know.

  2. This definitely sounds fishy. $300k is a lot to add on, but especially the part about giving 5 more years… just so with no discussion?
However, often times the truth is ppl are too quick to sign things in dealing with businesses without reading AND UNDERSTANDING the fine print. They assume that the company’s representative as part of their job must give them good advice; they work for the company, not for you, and especially in bim most seem to have eagerly cast away their true identity choosing to see themselves as manager/officer of company X, forgetting their humanity and connection to this person sitting in front of them and focusing on how much money they can make for the company. Be wary. Unfortunately the corporate world believes in caveat emptor. There’s no onus on the business to be fully transparent and forthright, but the responsibility is passed to the customer to be aware of the repercussions of what they are doing.
Mortgage contracts contain ‘legal’ ways to “increase the mortgage” by adding penalties, for eg for paying late, for paying early/ paying too much, variable (higher) interest rates after an initial period, etc. If you don’t pay the insurance they can pay it and add that cost to the balance, on which interest is charged. If you are not mindful you could end up owing a lot more than you anticipated and taking a lot longer to pay, which makes them more interest. The sad part is most likely it will likely be justified by some clause you overlooked or didn’t fully understand, and then people say “how could you not tell me…” when the real question is “how could you sign without knowing…”

  3. I’m not that gullible a lot of these people here come with half truths because they get into things they don’t understand clearly she doesn’t understand how a mortgage works also there’s no way they can add on an extra $300.000 and give her five extra years to pay a mortgage ends up almost two and a half almost three times the amount that you borrow that’s why it’s called a MORTGAGE you end up in the morgue before you finish pay learn to understand what you’re getting into before you sign eg. A $400.000 mortgage deepening on how you negotiate could easily reach $1.000000 especially if you didn’t put in equity and you want 100 % mortgage and that has nothing to do with legal fees both you and the mortgagee commitment fees negotiation fees stamp duty life insurance to cover the life of the mortgage and it’s equivalent plus other fees for being ignorant for having a mortgage in the first place lol that one was on me that was my fees Bring the evidence I don’t believe you writer

  5. There was an article in the Nation newspaper on this exact same thing. A lady said her mortgage was surprisingly increased by the credit union. Not sure if all the affected person went in to refinance their mortgage or what. Things like this can occur.

  6. I find this hard to believe> I can only hope that this gets straighten out and is not a misunderstanding. Amusingly, someone said Barbados is becoming more like America. If it was like America, I know she would get this problem fixed.

  7. All Persons in Barbados need to check to see that their deed is recorded at the land registry . You also need to make sure that your title is a ” Clear Tile ” and note the Name of the lawyer or lawyers used to make this deal , Also need to ask what is the full pay off amount, If they will not give you a copy of the deed , do not deal with them and make no more payments.

There is a credit union in Barbados that have more than a Billion dollars worth of land and houses,
The law states that you can not make a profit from fraud , So if there is fraud ,i would not pay them and let them take you to court, If you do ,look out for your lawyer for all of those snakes live in the same PIT, 99% of the lawyers and Ministers are full blooded crooks , So be very careful,
This will be also repost on “Coalition of Unified Parties” Page face book,

  8. You might not even have anyone to turn to other than ND. The police fraud squad is not going to help you. They might even point you to a lawyer who is a friend of theirs.

That being the case you should go after them with everything at your disposal anyhow.

Try to get in touch with the other persons who was defrauded and recover your money.
