BARBADOS (Naked Departure) — The persistent promotion of the idea that “tourism is Barbados’ best path to success” is responsible for the island’s problems. Conditioning passive minds to believe that visitors are your only hope will only make way for the growth of a society where its citizens are more concerned with the wellbeing and satisfaction of EVERYONE OTHER THAN their fellow countryman.
In the country’s recent history, this has been practiced in for the past 50+ years and the island is still in a position where its citizens are unable to effectively tackle the issues they face or protect themselves against foreign and domestic interference. The very fabric of society has been woven specifically to fit a particular agenda yet that fabric is proudly worn by the majority of the population, not even realizing that they are contributing to their own discontent. If the cap doesn’t fit, do not wear it – you’ll just look silly and feel extremely uncomfortable.
If you face injustice in the workplace, you may fear losing your employment if you complain, but as you were worthy of being employed in the first place, another employment opportunity will arise too. Don’t be afraid to challenge or confront those who do wrong. Conduct yourself with dignity and decorum and you will be taken more seriously. Have an open mind, live within your means and remember that if you stand for nothing and you will fall for anything. Do what you can, until you can do better. Anonymous
